“Turns the genre upside down” – details on The Eternal Life of Goldman platformer from the creators of This is the Police

It turned out that the studio Weappy, known for the This is the Police dilogy, is now making not only a simulator of dirty Hollywood, but also a colorful platformer The Eternal Life of Goldman, made in the spirit of classic animation.

As the authors write, the new game is a bright and at the same time dark adventure, which brings together legends, fairy tales and myths. Your character arrives in the Archipelago to kill the Deity, a mystical being that everyone talks about but no one has seen. “All elements work to make the adventure take your breath away and make your heart tickle,” says the studio.

Weappy wanted to create an uncompromising 2D game of unprecedented beauty, and for the sake of that they used grandfatherly methods – visual elements were drawn by hand and animated through frame-by-frame techniques. As a result, no two rooms or landscapes in The Eternal Life of Goldman are the same – every place, object, character and visual effect is carefully designed by hand.

Gameplay, too, has moved away from clichés: plaftorming is complex, demanding precision but never descending into a rote chain of taps with meticulous timings. Exploration is encouraged, but the game will never make you “backtrack” – returning to places you’ve already passed too often.

The Eternal Life of Goldman doesn’t have a release date yet. Platforms – PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch. Languages include Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian.
